Electronic maps are not new to web, as it has been there for some time and number of people made a real use of it even though it was not accessible to every one. Google Maps is a freely available web mapping service provided by Google for public users and organizations. For general public, Google offers Google Maps and Google Ride Finder. Google also offers an Application Programming Interface (API) for other third party software developers to build their own mapping applications based on Google Map technology.

Same as Google Maps, Google offers, another ground-breaking software called Google Earth. This is world wide location viewing software with satellite pictures. Going one step ahead, Google has started offering Google Sky integrated in to Google Earth application. Google Sky is a detailed map of the sky as the name suggests.

Using a Google Map is easy as searching in Google search engine. It’s a matter of dragging maps and clicking buttons of your mouse. You can enter addresses, give directions or enter business names to find the location and route to the location. You can even embed Google Maps in your website giving directions to your house or business. Also, there are number of applications that make references to Google Maps. As an example, in some mail clients, when the contacts are saved in the address book, the postal address of the contact is automatically referred with Google maps. So, next time the address book is opened, the user can see where exactly the contact lives or work.

Same as some other mapping services, Google Maps can also generate driving directions between any two locations in many countries including the US. This makes your traveling easy as ever. This becomes handier with the ability of browsing Google Maps through your handheld device or the navigation panel of your vehicle.

When Google Maps are used for traveling, you have two options available for finding directions; either you can use the conventional map view, which is clearer and understood or else, you can use the satellite picture view to see the exact picture of what you are passing through. The second option maybe, great for identifying some of the landmarks, which are not included in the conventional view.

With the enhancement and the enrichment of Internet and World Wide Web, more and more services offer online facilities for using their services more conveniently. All of these online services used authentication procedures to make sure only the authenticated persons use their services. This is more critical when it comes to services related to finance, personal information and law where sensitivity of the information matters the most.

But with increasing number of hacking attacks, software professionals were forced to find more reliable and fool-proof mechanisms for user authentication. There have been so many introductions to the world of cryptography to answer this very issue including the concept called Security Tokens. Let’s have a look at Security Tokens to understand how it really works.

In this article, we are not trying to explain the security token of all categories. There are a number of security token categories but let’s try to understand the basics. Let’s consider a scenario of you wanting to make an online payment by logging in to your bank account online. Usually you go to the bank’s website and enter the username and the password and then you are conveniently logged in to the website to carry out your transaction. Ok, what if someone steals your user name and the password? They both are just words right? So, someone can simply steal it using their own methods. Security tokens can be an ideal solution for such a situation.

When you login with a Security Token, after entering your user name and the password, you are supposed to enter another input. This maybe a number or a string made of characters and numbers. This string is dynamically generated by your security token and will be valid only for a very short period of time. The website accepts only the correct string generated by the security token generated at that moment dynamically. So for someone to gain access to an account which is secured with a security token will have to have user name, password and the security token. Although stealing the first two is relatively easy for a remote hacker, stealing the physical security token is impossible. This makes your website login more secure!

Today I came across this post about best web hosting company and must say I totally agree with Sheth. I have had many bad experiences with some hosting companies and in my opinion bad customer support and down server are worth among other problems.

I think the following criteria are necessary for a good web hosting company:

  1. Good customer support.
  2. Up and running Server at least at %99.50 of the time.
  3. Enough bandwidth.
  4. Enough disk space.
  5. Routin backup

The other free tools and bonuses such as shipping cart, weblog, free software, etc are optional and depend on user. If you visit Sheth site, you will see that he has chosen three great hosting companies that are my favorites too. Although I have never used Yahoo Hosting, but you agree with me that the name, Yahoo, says it all.

I have personally used Hostgator and Hostmonster and I can not say enough how happy I am with their service and price.

With the high availability and the accessibility of internet, online games have become more popular among almost all the age categories of internet users. There are two basic categories when it comes to online games. The first and most popular category is browser based games which are relatively small in size. Most of the times, these are flash or Java based games. The second category of online games is more serious games and they have dedicated user communities. Apart from these games being browser based, the game itself has the ability to connect with other online gamers who play the same game via dedicated servers. Some of the best examples are Arena, Delta Force, Need For Speed, Joint Operations etc. Therefore, you may understand that, these games need a high bandwidth internet connection and some advanced graphics capabilities.

When it comes to popular browser-based games, there are so many sub categories. One of the most popular is Fun Games. They are easy to play or rather no game play at all. They are plain fun to be playing because these games are motivated by different factors such as politics, personalities, celebrities etc. These are the games that you would play taking five minutes in the middle of your work.

How many of you remember the good old games that we played when we were teenagers? Pac-Man, Dave 3D, Mario… ring any bells? Yes these are called Retro Games. Fortunately they are now available in most of the online game websites for free play. As for me, I still have fun playing these legacy games because it’s like going back in a time machine.

Even though the field of industrial computer solutions has not been under the spotlight for some time, numbers of solutions have been introduced to the market with cutting edge technology during last few years. The case is that, these new introductions have become popular only among industries and scarcely among the general public.

During mid nineties, industrial computer solutions started focusing on embedded systems. They started as simple software running in a small device which had a limited number of inputs and outputs. In some cases, they were equipped with a LCD display where they were designed for more advanced usage. Nowadays we see that embedded systems for industrial computer solutions have come a long way, with time. Thus, we experience the results through devices which include sophisticated micro processors and advanced operating systems, governed by quality and safety standards.

Most of these industrial devices now contain x86 based processor architecture and occasionally RISC based processors as well. Also, these devices are now equipped with more sophisticated measuring and sensing mechanisms such as infrared, laser, radio waves etc. One good example is 5.8 GHz long range readers. This device can be used for control of parking areas, automation of logistics etc.

With the advancement and the wide application of industrial computer solutions, the need arose for quality and safety standards. Many governing bodies have implemented a variety of standards for these devices such as ISO 15693 by ISO and IEEE regulations for parallel and serial interfaces. On the other hand, industrial communication protocols are also governed by many regulatory bodies to ensure the interoperability of industrial computer devices.

The disk space, e-mail facilities, auto responding software, FTP access, free bandwidth, templates etc are the main factors that you have look for before selecting a better web hosting service.

Hard Disk Space:

The more space, the better service. The volume and type of content you plan to host is the key in deciding the space needed. Images, graphics audio and video files consume more space. If your data contains them, go for larger disk space.

The Bandwidth:

Higher band width can accommodate more traffic and has less chance of website crashing. Technological advances helped to resolve the band width problems. Today, so much of bandwidth is available, that most of the web hosts are ready to offer a free data transfer of 1,000 GB.

Web Analysis:

This service gives you a picture of the way your site is being used. So it is a very useful service to buy. You can learn about the origins of your traffic, the popular pages, the amount of time a visitor is spending on your sites, the search engines that favor your site etc.

Disk Space Analysis:

You have to clarify the untold details of the disk space allotted to you. If log files and e-mail boxes are included in it you have to be careful. Daily log files are better than monthly log files as you can erase them every day after verification. The later can occupy valuable mega bites in your server if you ignore them. You have to put a maximum limit on each of your e-mail boxes.

Auto Responders:

Check for this little software when you have a business website. It helps in sending automatic replies to people who show interest in your web site.

FTP Access:

You cannot host content without FTP access. In general many web hosts charge nothing for this facility.

Computer projectors are the latest devices at corporate meetings and presentations. These latest digital devices have replaced the old overhead projectors which were familiar. Still some old teachers may favor the OHPs but the modern CEOs who want to present their ideas more clearly and strongly have no second thought in choosing the projectors for their purpose.

The quality of images presented by the projectors and their user friendliness has made the computer projectors popular. They made it possible for anyone with presentation software like PowerPoint and a laptop can give a professional presentation in minutes. Of course you need clean, blank wall in addition. This made every one to switch from OHPs to computer projectors in the last few years.

Your conference room settings will decide the projector you need. If you have a bright room, go for a bright lamp. ANSI lumens are units used to measure the brightness of a lamp. A 300lumen lamp is good for dark rooms; but if your viewers need to take notes then you should have a minimum of 500lumens.

Portability and resolution are the other factors to be taken into account. The number of pixels displayed is referred by the resolution. Like most things, the higher the number, the greater the resolution. 1024 x 768 is the latest standard suitable for many situations. The weight of the computer projector decides its portability. There are projectors from 8 lbs to 60 lbs. If you need to move your projector along with your laptop then choose a projector which weighs less than 15 lbs.

It is a little bit difficult to find the best cellular service provider. In these days almost all service providers are offering many perks every other day to attract new customers and of course to retain old ones. The most attractive perk is a free new phone. Your can get a new phone for free, or a latest model phone at a discount price. Offers change from one provider to other. All this leaves you in confusion when you have to choose the best cellular service.

Many cell phone service providers get rid of their oldest/unpopular models in this free exchange, so that they can get more margins on the color models, best picture phones and video flip phones. So when you are getting a new phone, there is a chance of compromise on the latest digital technology that can utilize your service provider’s latest services.

If you learn few basic technological difference, it is easy over come this confusion. There are two types of networks that run the cellular services world wide. The Global System for Mobile Communication (GSM) network which is a global standard and the Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) network which can receive both digital and analog signals.

So a GSM phone can be used anywhere on the earth if there are digital cell signals. If your service customer is an old one, may be you are still getting analog signals. Analog services are costlier and consume more electrical power leaving you a less battery back up time.

When you have reached a decision on free new phone, then you have to look up at the service provider’s credibility in customer services. Listen to the experiences of previous customers before taking a final decision. That will help you a lot in selecting the best cellular service available.
